House of May is a Belgium-based multidisciplinary design studio focusing on pattern and product design for interior and fashion applications. The studio was founded in 2019 by Wendy Scheerlinck, a civil engineer-architect with an indomitable creativity. Her creativity thus translates into a celebration of eccentric colors, textures and graphic forms, inspired by (neo)-avant-garde, 50s-60s architecture, the great Memphis style of the 80s and various other eclectic influences.
But what is there in her creations that she hasn't already found in her work as an architect? Alex Proba said it so well recently on the Second Studio podcast: 'Architecture isn't my thing. It's far too slow for me, and I don't think I have the patience for it. I quickly realized that I need instant gratification. I want to make something, have it and see it.'
